Grace Community Bible Church at 9407 County Highway H held an open house Saturday, May 16, followed by a dedication service Sunday.
Included in the open house on Saturday were a Bouncy house from Hazuga’s True Value in Stanley, a petting zoo with Jessica and Darrel Samplawski and face painting by Michelle Holman, Macy Holman, Aubrey Winger, Allie Holman, and Hailee Miles. Prizes were offered for Bible Trivia questions, with several church members staffing the kitchen area.
Started in 2021 after Rich and Jan Abramczak made phone calls following Steve Mohr’s retirement at Maple Grove, Grace Community is an independent Bible Church.
“We’re a Bible believing, Bible preaching church,” pastor Loyed Arnold says of the congregation.
The first meeting location for Grace Community was in rented space at 219 South Broadway in Stanley, then to 1408 Pine Street before most recently building a permanent structure at 9407 County Highway H, just south of Center Road.
Built on land donated by Travis and Kelly Krizan, the new church building for Grace Community opens to a fellowship hall with Matthew 18:20 above the kitchen window, with three classrooms and two bathrooms on the left, the sanctuary being on the right.
A missions display and world map is on the left wall, with free will donation box near the front.
Nearly debt free after a one year pledge drive and built with largely volunteer help, the building includes two offices as well.
Construction on the new building started last year, with a land dedication and groundbreaking for the new building held August 24, 2025, with footings poured Sept. 3 and rerod (tying the structure to the foundation) on Sept. 9.
Construction was fast, with electrical source made Sept. 11.
The congregation prayed for a storm to go around on Sept. 15, with the result “Thank you Jesus.” Concrete was done mostly by church members except the floor, which was started Sept. 22, with final pour made Sept. 26.
The first walls were framed Oct. 6 around 8:30 a.m., with rafters up by Oct. 9. Framing was set by Oct. 13, with carport I-beam weld Oct. 17. Siding was put on towards the end of October, with final gravel parking lot grade Nov. 3.
The lot will forgo blacktop for now.
Gutters were installed by The Gutterman Nov. 14, with building insulation Dec. 16 and a plastic barrier before Sheetrock Jan. 26.
Members put Bible verses on the interior studs before covering.
As for building materials, these were sourced from P and B Lumber at Cadott.
The church was built by Joe Winger and crew from Winger Construction, with Rich Abramczak serving as building manager.
Mike and Matt Badzinski from Cornerstone Construction helped as well, with volunteers from Jacob’s Well in Lake Hallie also contributing.
Carpeting for the building came from Hank’s Furniture in Thorp, with plumbing by Zach Nitz. Travis Schneider did drywall, with taping and texturing by Jesse Allard.
Electrical was installed by Schrock Electric, with the sound system from Sweetwater.
TVs and other devices came out from Yellowstone Computing in Thorp. Haas and ABE Concrete did concrete, with Haas doing gravel for the parking lot.
The first service in the new building was April 19, with dedication May 17.
